University of Health and Allied Sciences to cost 20 million dollars

Have (V/R), June 19, GNA- It will cost an estimated 20 million dollars to build the proposed University of Health and Allied Sciences in the Volta region.

On completion that University would be peerless in prestige among public universities in Ghana, Mr Joseph Amenowode, Volta Regional Minister said.

He said the government would not speak about the project unless it was sure of its funding.

“The government is not the type that abandons projects midway”, he asserted.

Mr Amenode was addressing a durbar of Chiefs and people of Have rpt Have to mark this year’s Agadevi festival which was on the theme, “The development of Have, a shared responsibility”.

He said the government was encouraged by the appreciation from the rural folks on its successes even though urban dwellers seemed not to appreciate these.

Mr Amenowode said government puts high premium on education at all levels not least at the lower levels where it was able to build 200 schools in the Volta region in two years with 100 more slated for this year.

Mr Amenowode who is also Member of Parliament for Hohoe South commended the Chiefs and people of Have for their self-help spirit which saw the building of the Have Secondary Technical School among others.

He was optimistic that the self-help spirit that went into the completion of previous projects in the community would manifest in the 100,000 cedis multi-purpose community centre project which it is now undertaking.

He pledged to support the project with 200 bags of cement.

Similar pledges of support were made by Mr Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, deputy Minister of Local Government and Rural Development and on behalf of Ms Sena Akua Dansua, Minister of Tourism by her deputy Mr Agyenim Boateng.
