Aflao Police arrest robbery and murder suspect

Aflao, Mar 2, (Adoboli/Mensah) GNA- Prince Chidi 36 has been arrested by the Aflao Police for his alleged involvement in the killing of a Togolese businessman in a robbery in Lome two years ago.

He has been handed over to the Togolese security to assist with investigations into the case.

Mr Ahmed Issa Yakubu, Superintendent of Police, is charge of the Aflao District told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that Nze, who was resident in Lome, was among a group of people engaged in cross-border crime between Ghana and Togo.

He said sometime in November 2009, Nze and others went on a robbery expedition in Lome during which they shot and killed the business tycoon (name not available).

Mr Yakubu said one of Nze’s accomplices was also shot and killed by the Togolese Military who arrived at the scene, but Nze and others fled.

He said Nze, however left his passport at the reception of a hotel in Lome from which his picture was printed and distributed among the security in both Ghana and Togo.

Mr Yakubu said on February 18, this year Nze was spotted by an informant in the street at Denu and was arrested after a fierce struggle with civilians and the police.

Mr Yakubu said the collaboration between his outfit and his Togolese counterparts in crime combat has been recording fruitful results.
